Similarity/Differences with Watson and Escalante

Ms. Watson and Escalante and similar in the fact that they push their students beyond the text books or the average expectations that other teachers have for their students. They are similar they are both very strict with their students. They both have the school board kind of against them, in the fact that they do things a little bit different than the other teachers. The school didn’t like Mr. Escalante because the teachers didn’t like him pushing his students to do Calculus while Ms. Watson wasn’t liked for inspiring the young woman to form their own opinions about things. Both Mr. Escalante and Ms. Watson have a connection with their students outside of the school setting. They both care for their students enough to listen to about their home life. They both fought for their students by going against the school board and telling them how they truly feel about the school.
They are different because Mr. Escalante taught his students with more humor and Ms. Watson teaches her students more seriously. She still jokes with them a bit, but she is not as cut loose as Mr. Escalante. Ms. Watson if very self-dependent, and not that Mr. Escalante wasn’t self-dependent, but it is a different time so he didn’t have to show his self-dependence as much as Ms. Watson did.
